In Kasungu, a 4 year-old child has died after being hit by a reversing car at Chatoloma Trading Centre at around 09:00 hours today
The deceased has been identified as Winnie Nkhoma. Brief facts are that, on the time in material Mr. Abdul Semihayo was driving motor vehicle registration number KK7042 Toyota probox hatchback, from the direction of Nkhamenya Trading Centre towards Kasungu Boma. Upon arrival at Chatoloma Trading Centre along Mzuzu – Kasungu M1 road, he was pulling left in order to park his motor vehicle at a certain shop and in the process, he hit the child in question who was playing with her friends near the shop.
Following the impact, the young female pedestrian sustained internal injuries and was rushed to Kasungu District Hospital where she died while receiving treatment.
The driver has been arrested for reckless driving and he is in police custody. He will appear in court soon to answer the charge which has been levelled against him.
The deceased hailed from Wembe village, Traditional Authority Mnyanja in Kasungu district.
