Machinga Meeting on digital technology

Machinga Council Management Meetings Goes Digital

One of the participants, Linda Majamanda, said she was very happy to have learnt how to participate in the digital technology meeting using zoom.

Members of Machinga Management team on Thursday underwent an orientation on how they can use online video conferencing tool called Zoom to participate in meetings.

Speaking at Machinga Secondary School Hall, District Commissioner Rosemary Nawasha said she decided to organise the orientation as one way of preventing the spread of COVID-19.

“One way of preventing COVID-19 is that we should avoid physical gatherings though our work demands us to meet and discuss developmental issues including how the stop the virus from spreading.“We, therefore, thought it wise that it is very important to encourage technologically based meetings such as zoom meetings,” she explained.

Facilitator for the orientation meeting, Nelia Magaleta commended the District Commissioner for initiating the orientation and expressed optism that this technology will enhance coordination and communication between the council and its stakeholders.

“Many organisations, especially non-state actors, nowadays prefer zoom meetings because it has many advantages over physical meetings.

“It is easy to record whatever is discussed and has proved to be a more effective way of controlling the spread COVID-19,”she said.

One of the participants, Linda Majamanda, said she was very happy to have learnt how to participate in the digital technology meeting using zoom.

“We have added value to not only the council, but also to ourselves as individuals because we will be able to use the knowledge and skills anywhere we go.”

Over 20 senior management team members of the council attended the two-hour orientation meeting.
